Welcome to the final lesson of Module 1! To ensure a smooth and efficient user experience, FastFund Online employs a consistent set of conventions, icons, and buttons throughout the entire application—whether you are working in Accounting, Fund Raising, or Payroll.
Familiarizing yourself with these universal interface elements will significantly speed up your workflow, reduce repetitive data entry, and help you navigate the platform with confidence.
1. Standard Action Buttons
Whenever you are working in lists, records, or setup screens, you will rely on three primary action buttons to manage your data:
- New +: Located at the top of list windows, clicking the New + icon allows you to add new items to the system, such as a new Account Segment, Vendor, Constituent, or Gift designation.
- Save: The blue Save button is used universally to confirm and save new records, update edited items, and finalize processes.
- Delete: The red Delete button allows you to remove items. If a record cannot be deleted (for instance, if it has financial transactions tied to it), this button may be grayed out or inactive.

2. Required Fields
Throughout the FastFund Online system, all data entry screens for names, addresses, and transactions utilize visual cues to ensure your data is complete.
- Red Asterisk (*): Any field name accompanied by a red asterisk is a Required Field. You must enter valid data into these fields to proceed.
- If you attempt to save a form while leaving a required field blank, the system will immediately generate a visual notification alerting you that the data entry is incomplete.

3. List Navigation and Interaction
When working with long lists of constituents or reports, FastFund offers intuitive ways to interact with the data:
- Drilling Down: In Lists, Transactions, and Registers, if you hover your mouse pointer over a linked field, an Edit box and hint will appear. You can click directly on this data to “drill down” into the underlying record to review, edit, or update it.
- Select All / Deselect All: When performing batch actions, you will frequently see a master check box at the top of a list. Checking or unchecking this box will instantly select or deselect all items currently displayed in that list.
- Filtering: Most FastFund lists feature a Filters + option, allowing you to narrow down the displayed data to only the items that meet your specific criteria, helping you work much faster.
4. Transaction Entry Buttons
Entering financial data is highly standardized. Every Transaction Entry screen in FastFund uses the exact same button conventions to manage your work:
- Save & New: After entering all necessary data for a transaction, clicking Save & New posts the current transaction and immediately clears the screen so you can begin entering a brand new transaction.
- Save: Posts the current transaction but leaves the record on your screen.
- Previous / Next: Allows you to scroll chronologically through your previously saved transactions directly from the data entry screen.

5. Grid and Print Icons
Finally, when managing transaction lines or generating reports, keep an eye out for these specific visual icons:
- Transaction Grid Icons: To add multiple distribution lines to a transaction, click the Grid Icon with the Green Plus Sign. Conversely, to clear all transaction lines at once, click the Grid Icon with the Red Minus Sign.
- Print Icons: All FastFund reports are generated in multiple formats. You will frequently see icons for HTML (best for on-screen previewing and drilling down) and PDF (best for printing and saving). Hovering your mouse cursor over these icons will display a hint revealing the name of the report.
