Lesson 1.1 Activity

Now that you are familiar with the seven core features, let’s complete a 3-step practical exercise to prepare your organization’s structure:

  1. Map Your Company Data: Write down your organization’s core administrative details, ensuring you have your Federal Tax ID, State Tax ID, and exact Fiscal Start Month ready for system entry.
  2. Draft Your Account Structure: Outline the minimum three segments needed for your Chart of Accounts. Write down one example of a Fund, a Cost Center (e.g., a specific program), and an Object Code (e.g., Rent Expense) that your nonprofit uses.
  3. Design a Gift Pyramid: Sketch a basic gift pyramid for your next major fundraising initiative. Define the top-level Fund, the specific Campaign, the driving Appeal (e.g., Spring Mailing), and at least two Gift designations (e.g., Sponsorship, Tickets).
