- Clear Open Batches: Before attempting to configure taxes, navigate to Transactions > Payroll Batches. If there are any test batches currently open, delete them to unlock the tax setup screen.
- Configure Federal Defaults: Go to Administration > Payroll Setup > Taxes. Click on the default FIT tax line. Assign the “Department of the Treasury” (or your equivalent Other Name) as the Payee, and link your FIT Liability account. Click SAVE.
- Draft a SUTA Profile: Click the New + icon and select SUTA. Select your state. Locate your organization’s most recent State Unemployment notice to find your current Wage Limit and Percentage Rate. Enter those values precisely (remembering to format the percentage as a whole number, like 1.5) and click Cancel to exit without saving the test.
