Module 5- Overview

Module 5 bridges the gap between your initial system setup and daily financial operations. Now that your entities are in place, this module focuses on creating the tools you need to generate revenue, communicate professionally with clients, and measure your financial performance against your goals.

Here is a quick summary of what you will learn in this module:

  • Items for Billing: If you bill for services, grants, or tuition, you will learn how to create billing “Items.” These act as data-entry shortcuts that automatically route revenue to the correct general ledger accounts when you create an invoice, ensuring accurate accounting behind the scenes. You will also learn how to set default prices and manage sales tax.
  • Document Templates: You will learn how to customize the outward-facing documents your organization generates, such as Client Bills, Balance Due Statements, and Purchase Orders. This includes editing the layout and uploading your organization’s logo to maintain a professional brand identity.
  • Creating and Managing Budgets: You will learn how to establish your financial roadmap by entering budgets for your revenue and expense accounts. This covers entering budgets manually, importing them from a spreadsheet, automatically generating them from past-year data, and managing budget revisions as your plans change throughout the year.

By the end of this module, your system will be fully prepped to handle streamlined billing and produce the vital Budget Comparison reports your management team relies on.
