Lesson 1.5: User Preferences (My Account)

While FastFund Payroll operates from a shared, unified database, your individual experience within the system can be customized to suit your specific workflow. Through the My Account area, every user has the ability to securely maintain their login credentials, view internal system messages, and establish personal screen and printing preferences.

You can access your user profile at any time by clicking the drop-down menu next to your User Name located in the top right-hand corner of the FastFund window.

Account Settings Selecting Account Settings allows you to update your User Name, your sign-on Email Address, and your Password. For internal control and security purposes, all changes made to your login credentials are automatically stored in the Company Audit Log.

If you ever need to change your password, you must follow the system’s strict security requirements. A valid password must:

  • Be a minimum of six (6) characters long.
  • Contain at least one upper case letter.
  • Contain at least one lower case letter.
  • Contain at least one number (e.g., 4, 7, 9).
  • Contain at least one special character (e.g., #, @, %, &).

Messages FastFund contains an internal messaging system used to alert users of updates, enhancements, or reminders. If you receive a Private Message, a yellow Mail Box icon (or Envelope) will appear next to your name at the top of the screen. You can access these alerts by clicking the icon or selecting Messages from your user menu.

Personal Preferences Selecting the Preferences tab gives you access to several specific options that control how data is displayed and printed on your local workstation:

  • Items Per Page: This determines how many items (ranging from 20 to 100) appear in FastFund lists before carrying over to the next page. Increasing this number allows you to view more employees or accounts on a single screen without clicking through multiple pages.
  • Report Font Size: This allows you to set a default font size for the reports you print. Because this setting is unique to your user account, you can adjust the font for optimal readability without affecting how reports print for your colleagues.
  • Payroll Check Stub Offset: If you are printing physical paychecks and the pay stub information prints too high or too low on your check stock, you can adjust the alignment here. You can move the printing up or down in quarter-line increments (ranging from -4.0 to +4.0). Selecting a positive number moves the print down, while a negative number moves it up.
  • Transaction Reference Checking: Checking this box prompts the system to automatically look for duplicate transaction references, adding an extra layer of internal control to prevent duplicate data entry.
