Lesson 1.3: Dashboard Overview

When you successfully log onto the system, the very first screen you are brought to is the Dashboard. All navigation throughout the entire FastFund Online application originates from this central hub. Understanding the layout of the Dashboard will help you move efficiently through your daily payroll tasks.

Core Navigation Elements The FastFund program window is carefully organized into a few key navigational areas:

  • Status Bar: Located at the very top of the screen. The top line displays the signed-in user’s name and email, the My Account preference icon (Gear), the User’s Guide (Open Book), Support Request (Question Mark), and the Sign Out (Right Pointing Arrow) button.
  • Module Drop-Down: The second line of the Status Bar displays your company name and the current active module. You can click the module name drop-down to switch seamlessly between the Accounting, Fund Raising, and Payroll modules.
  • Main Menu: This is the top horizontal menu that contains your primary functions, such as Lists, Transactions, Cost Allocations, Utilities, and Reports. (Note: The specific items you see here are controlled by your unique user permissions).
  • Task Menu: A vertical menu located in the left-hand margin. This menu displays specific sub-menu items related to whichever function you click in the Main Menu.
  • Main Work Space: The central area of the screen where all of your open windows, lists, data entry forms, transaction screens, and reports will appear as you work.

The Payroll Financial Data Dashboard The center of your screen houses the Financial Data Dashboard. This is a visual representation of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that monitor your nonprofit’s payroll data in real-time. It displays fiscal year-to-date calculations up to the current system date, and the data is dynamic, changing immediately upon the entry of new transactions.

Internal Control Note: Access to the Financial Dashboard is linked directly to the Reports permission in Payroll. If you do not want certain users to see these financial visuals, your Company Administrator must ensure the Reports permission is not assigned to their user profile.

YTD Direct Deposits Widget One highly useful feature of the payroll dashboard is the YTD Direct Deposits list. This section details all direct deposits processed for the calendar year to date. It gives you an immediate status update on your transmissions to National Payment Solutions, displaying the Status (e.g., Submitted or Processed), the Submit Date, the Pay Date, and the Total net amount of the direct deposit.
